Travel Tips

RATES

Rates include all expenses for best available accommodation and table hotel meals as indicated in the itineraries, vehicle and driver for the intended itinerary, guides, entrance fees for National Parks and game reserves. All expenses of a personal nature such as visas, beverages, laundry tips, porterage, airport departure tax are not included. All prices are based on tariffs and exchange rates applicable at the time of printing and are subject to alternation without notice.

 

PAYMENTS

A deposit of 50% is required on booking of any travel arrangements, the balance to be paid 15 days before commencement of the tour. Payment in full is required when bookings are made less than 15 days before the tour begins. The deposit may be forfeited in case of cancellation and amendments.

 

CANCELLATION AND NO - SHOW FEES

Cancellation fees will apply for both individual and group bookings only in the event of accommodation not being resold. The following represents the maximum cancellation fees permissible and no hotel or lodge may charge fees in excess of these figures except as agreed by private treaty but the discretion as to whether to raise cancellation fees at all lies with the hotelkeeper.

 

A. LODGES

  • For accommodation cancelled or reduced in number between 60 and 31 days, from noon on the day of accommodation- 20% of the rate applicable per bed-night cancelled.
  • For accommodation cancelled or reduced in number between 30 days and 7 days, from noon on the date of accommodation - 50% of the rate applicable.
  • In the case of cancellation within 6 days from noon to the date of accommodation or in the case of no-show - 100% of the net value of the booking.

B. NAIROBI HOTELS

  • For accommodation cancelled or reduced in number between 14 and 2 days from noon on the dates of accommodation- 40% of the rate applicable.
  • In the case of cancellation within 48 hours from noon to the date of accommodation, or in the case of no-show- 100% of the net value of the bookings.

C. COAST HOTELS

  • For accommodation cancelled or reduced in number between 35 and 14 days, from noon on the accommodation date - 20% of the rate applicable per bed-night cancelled, subject to the maximum charge of 3 nights per person.
  • For cancellation or reduction in number made between 14 days and 2 days from noon on the date of accommodation- 40% of the rate applicable per bed-night cancelled, with a maximum of 3 nights per person.
  • For cancellation within 48 hours from noon on the accommodation date, or in the case of no show- 100% of the contract rate with a maximum of 2 nights at the rate and a third at the rate shown in C (ii) above.

AIRPORT TAX

An airport departure tax is paid at both Nairobi and Mombasa airport for all international flights. This amount is payable in American Dollars, though other convertible currencies are also accepted. There is also a departure tax payable for local flights.

 

TRANSPORTATION AND DRIVER GUIDES

Rates for private car tours are based on exclusive use of vehicles. For Flight Centres, minivans, and land-cruisers will be provided according to the route and number of participants. The right is reserved to employ the services of subcontractors to carry out all or any part of the services agreed to be supplied. Trained English-speaking African driver/ guides are provided unless any passenger specifically requests a professional courier in which case an extra charge will be imposed.

 

ALTERATIONS TO TOURS

The company reserves the right to alter arrangements of the route or to cancel the operation of a scheduled tour should conditions necessitate. It also reserves the right to decline or retain any person as a member of a tour at any time, in which event equitable costs will be refunded.

 

LIABILITY

  • The company and its agents act only as agents of the passenger in all matters relating to tours, and it accepts no responsibility for any personal illness, injury, delays, loss or damage from any case whatsoever.
  • The company's liability to passengers carried in its own vehicles is governed by the respective law of the country and all claims are subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of the country in which the cause of action arises.
  • Whilst every care is taken, the company will not be held responsible for loss or damage to baggage, personal effects, valuables, travellers cheques or currency. It is therefore advisable to separate baggage/ loss insurance.
